Voters across New York are heading to the polls today, June 23, to participate in the state's primary elections, with congressional, state legislative, and local races on the ballot. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Primary elections determine which candidates from each political party will advance to the November general election. Depending on where they live, voters in the Hudson Valley and New York City may see contests for Congress, State Senate, State Assembly, and other offices on their ballots.

Among the closely watched races is the Democratic primary in New York's 17th Congressional District, which includes Rockland and Putnam Counties, and portions of Westchester and Dutchess Counties. Several congressional races in New York City are also drawing national attention

In addition, voters statewide are selecting party nominees for New York State Comptroller and legislative seats that help shape policies affecting housing, transportation, infrastructure, taxation, and economic development.

For REALTORS® and consumers alike, elected officials at every level of government play a role in decisions that impact housing supply, affordability, zoning, property taxes, infrastructure investment, and homeownership opportunities.

New Yorkers who have not yet voted may cast their ballots at their designated polling place until 9 p.m. Voters who are in line by 9 p.m. are entitled to vote.

The winners of today's primary contests will advance to the November general election.
