Lidl to Open First Rockland County Store in Tappan

Grocery retailer will open its new Route 303 location on Sept. 16
Lidl will open its first Rockland County grocery store in Tappan on Sept. 16, expanding the international retailer’s presence in the New York metropolitan area.
The new store is located at 37 Route 303 and will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 7:40 a.m. on opening day.
The Tappan location marks Lidl’s entry into the Rockland County market as the grocery chain continues to expand throughout the Northeast and New York.
Lidl, which operates approximately 200 stores in the United States, has been steadily growing its footprint in the region. The company currently has locations throughout New York City and Long Island, as well as stores in Westchester County, including Yonkers and Pelham.
The retailer is known for a grocery model centered on private-label products, international imports, fresh produce and an in-store bakery, with an emphasis on value and a streamlined shopping experience.
The addition of Lidl brings another major grocery retailer to Rockland County’s Route 303 commercial corridor and represents continued investment by national retailers in the county.
The new Tappan store will celebrate its grand opening Sept. 16 with special promotions and activities for shoppers.
