Historic South Florida REALTOR® Merger Creates Largest Local Association in the World

Two of Florida’s largest real estate organizations have officially joined forces in what industry leaders are calling a landmark moment for organized real estate. MIAMI Association of REALTORS® and Broward, Palm Beaches & St. Lucie Realtors® have completed a merger that creates the largest local REALTOR® association in the world, representing approximately 93,000 members across South Florida.

The merger, finalized on May 11, also combines the organizations’ respective MLS systems, MIAMI MLS and BeachesMLS, into a unified structure designed to streamline data access, improve business tools, and expand services for REALTORS® throughout the region.

The newly combined organization is expected to operate under the proposed name Miami and South Florida REALTORS®, pending approval from the National Association of REALTORS®. Industry leaders say the move represents a major shift toward greater regional collaboration and market connectivity.

“This is not about county lines,” said Teresa King Kinney in the announcement. “This is about providing the most data, tools and education to South Florida real estate professionals so they can deliver the highest level of professional service to their clients.”

Kinney will serve alongside Dionna Hall as Co CEOs through the end of 2026 before Hall assumes the CEO role moving forward. The transition follows Kinney’s previously announced retirement plans after more than three decades leading MIAMI REALTORS®.

One of the merger’s biggest impacts will be the creation of a unified MLS dataset for South Florida real estate professionals. REALTORS® in the region have historically worked across fragmented MLS systems, often requiring multiple IDX feeds and memberships to access complete listing information.

“Data is power,” Hall said in the release. “South Florida Realtors will finally have one complete MLS dataset to power their business.”

The combined organization will offer members access to what will become the third largest MLS in the nation, along with expanded educational programming, global partnerships, technology platforms, and advocacy resources. Benefits announced include free IDX feeds containing listings from both MLS systems, access to both Flexmls and Matrix platforms, more than 2,800 educational seminars, and over 300 member products and services.

The scale of the new association is significant. The combined membership of approximately 93,000 REALTORS® exceeds the membership size of 47 state REALTOR® associations and is more than double the size of the next largest local association in the United States.

Leaders from both organizations emphasized that the merger builds on years of successful regional consolidation efforts designed to improve member value and consumer service. Both MIAMI REALTORS® and RWorld have previously completed multiple mergers over the past two decades.

The organizations also noted the market strength behind the merger. Together, members of the two associations facilitated approximately $69 billion in real estate sales volume in 2025.

As real estate markets continue evolving and technology increasingly drives business operations, the merger may also serve as a model for future regional collaborations among REALTOR® associations and MLS organizations nationwide.
