GUEST VIEWPOINT: Your Voice Matters—Join Us to Shape Rockland’s Future

Ed Day • March 19, 2026
As your County Executive, one of my most important responsibilities is ensuring that the future of Rockland County is shaped by the people who call it home. That’s why I’m inviting every resident—no matter your background, your neighborhood, or how long you’ve lived here—to join us for a critical public meeting on the Draft Envision Rockland Comprehensive Plan on Wednesday, March 25th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Rockland County Fire Training Center, 35 Firemens Memorial Dr., Pomona.

This is not just another meeting. It is the latest opportunity for you to continue to directly influence the long‑term vision for housing, transportation, economic development, open space, natural resource protection, community services, and everything that will define Rockland for the next decade and beyond.

The Draft Envision Rockland Plan is the result of extensive research, community engagement and collaboration, and months of work by our Planning Department and Community Advisory Working Group—and we need your continued insight to further refine it.

The evening will begin with an Open House from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., giving you a chance to walk through displays and review the Draft Recommendations at your own pace. From 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., we’ll provide a detailed Draft Plan Presentation, followed by an opportunity for public comment, where we genuinely want to hear your questions, concerns, ideas, and suggestions. Then, from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Community Advisory Working Group will hold a discussion that you’re welcome to stay and observe.

This meeting also marks the official start of the public review period of the Draft Plan, which runs through April 22, giving you several additional ways to share feedback—including in person, in writing, or online.

The Draft Plan will be available on www.envisionrockland.com starting March 20th and printed copies will also be available at the County Clerk’s Office and multiple local libraries including Finkelstein, Haverstraw Kings Daughters, New City, Orangeburg, and Tomkins Cove.

If you care about Rockland’s future—and I know you do—this is your chance to help shape it. Plans like this only succeed when residents participate. Your perspective matters because no one understands the day‑to‑day needs and challenges of our communities better than the people who live them.

I encourage you to register, attend, and make your voice heard. Together, we can ensure that the Envision Rockland Plan reflects the values, hopes, and priorities of the people it’s meant to serve.
I hope to see you there. Your input is not just welcomed—it’s essential.
