Westchester County Awards $550 Million in Contracts to Minority- and Women-Owned Businesses

Westchester County has reached a significant economic development milestone, awarding more than $550 million in contracts to Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) since 2018. The achievement reflects the county's ongoing efforts to expand business opportunities, support local entrepreneurs and strengthen the regional economy.
According to county officials, MWBE contracting increased approximately 85% in 2025, rising from $92 million in 2024 to $171 million in 2025. The nearly $79 million year-over-year increase highlights the growing participation of minority- and women-owned businesses in county procurement opportunities.
More than 2,500 businesses are currently registered with Westchester County's MWBE Program, which helps qualified businesses compete for government contracts and connect with potential customers and partners.
Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins emphasized the importance of expanding access to contracting opportunities for businesses of all sizes and backgrounds. County officials credited sustained outreach, education and collaboration with the business community for helping increase participation.
The program provides registered businesses with access to contract notifications, inclusion in the county's online business directory and invitations to workshops, seminars and training programs designed to support business growth.
The county plans to continue expanding MWBE participation and strengthening relationships with local businesses as part of its broader economic development strategy.
