District 94

Matt Slater was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2022, representing the 94th District covering parts of Putnam and Westchester counties. A Yorktown native, he graduated from Yorktown High School, St. Anselm College, and earned an MPA from Marist College.


Slater was first elected as Yorktown’s youngest town supervisor in 2019 and reelected in 2021, where he balanced budgets, cut taxes for the first time in 30 years, and attracted major investments like Trader Joe’s and Uncle Giuseppe’s. Earlier, he served as chief of staff to State Sen. Terrence Murphy, helping pass key laws, secure funding, and combat the opioid crisis.


In the Assembly, Slater has delivered over $30 million to his district, resolved more than 1,000 constituent cases, and passed notable legislation including the bipartisan Detective Brian Simonsen Law, deterring cell phone theft. He continues to focus on public safety, economic growth, supporting local businesses, and addressing the opioid epidemic.



In 2022, he was commissioned as an officer in the Navy Reserves. He lives in Yorktown with his wife and two children.
