  • Describe the elementary construction styles of the building
  • Recognize the construction materials that are used
  • Identify and explain general construction arrangements for the attic region (i.e., rafters, truces, etc.)
  • Develop an understanding of vermiculite and other insulations used
  • Develop knowledge for the construction and operation of wood & gas fireplaces
  • Describe the difference between a level 1 and level 2 fireplace inspection
  • Explain the functionality of the general plumbing arrangements
  • Explain and identify differences between standard outlets, Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI), and Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCI)
  • Recognize and identify the materials used for foundations in early century homes to new construction
  • Explain how vertical and horizon cracks may impact a foundation
