HGAR School of Real Estate Policies

School Name

The Hudson Gateway Association of REALTORS® (HGAR), School of Real Estate is approved by the New York State Division of Licensing to offer a variety of education programs. HGAR is located at One Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605.

Registration

Real Estate Pre-Licensing courses and In-house Continuing Education course offerings require pre-registration. Students may register for any HGAR class at HGAR.com/Take a Class.

Instructor Information

Each Real Estate Pre-Licensing and Continuing Education course is presented by New York State Department of State-approved instructors. Faculty members are selected for their expertise in a wide range of topics that support the success of real estate professionals.

Class Conduct

As an educational entity, HGAR School of Real Estate maintains a focus on the education of its students during its classes. HGAR does not permit business or employment solicitation during its classes. Holding such conversations during class time, recruiting for employment opportunities, or distributing listing information or promotional items, can result in expulsion from the class. HGAR reserves the right to remove students from class for disruptive or counterproductive behavior.

Recording Policy

Video and audio recording of HGAR classes by students without expressed, written consent is prohibited.

Inclement Weather Policy

Most HGAR Continuing Education classes are conducted via Zoom; however, there are instances where live, in-person classes are held in our offices. If inclement weather affects classes, HGAR will attempt to reach class attendees via email to announce changes in class schedules. Students should, however, call HGAR at 914-681-0833 for a recorded message indicating any changes.

Cancellation Policy

Real Estate Licensing, Continuing Education, and non-credit courses in-person or via Zoom can be canceled by a student up to 48 hours before the first class session for a refund by logging into hgar.ims.com. If you have issues canceling you may request a refund by emailing Support@hgar.com. Canceling an in-person or Zoom class within 48 hours is subject to a $10 cancellation fee. We do not provide refunds or credits if you do not show up for a class.


For purchases of HGAR Online Courses only: You have the right to cancel your registration for any reason up to seven (7) business days from the date of purchase. Requests for cancellation of a registration must be made by contacting our school via email at OnlineCE@HGAR.com. The request must be received by our school before midnight of the seventh calendar day from the date of purchase.

Course Requirements - Attendance and Participation

Registering for a class does not guarantee continuing education credit. Below are the guidelines students must follow in order to earn continuing education credits for the classes they attend.

Continuing Education, In-person or Virtual:

Continuing Education, On-demand via our online partners, The CE Shop or Learning Library:

  • Complete all lessons online including the end-of-unit quizzes. Most questions are timed and need to be answered within the prescribed time.
  • If required, pass any course final examination.
  • Complete all coursework within 365 days of the enrollment date.
  • School Records – HGAR will maintain for a period of 5 years the following information in each student record: the student's name, address, state registration number, course title, and date of enrollment and completion.

Virtual Class Requirements

  • To participate in a virtual class, you must have a camera on your device for the instructor and moderator to see you.
  • Your camera must be on and you must be visible at all times for the duration of the class. Visual confirmation is used to certify your participation to the Department of State so that you can receive CE credit.
  • You must make sure that your screen name is your first and last name. This ensures that your identity and participation are properly recorded.
  • Set up in a quiet, distraction-free setting that allows you to fully engage and participate in the class. While this is not an exhaustive list, examples of distracted behaviors that are prohibited while participating in HGAR classes include:
  • Driving
  • Exercising
  • Taking phone calls persistently
  • Simultaneously attending meetings or conferences
  • Students exhibiting distracted or disruptive behavior may be removed from the class at the discretion of the instruction team and will not earn CE credit for the class.
  • You will receive an email from HGAR with the class link the day before. If you do not receive this email, please check your spam/junk folder. If you have not received this email by 4:30 pm the day before your class, please contact HGAR at 914-681-0833
  • Taking Attendance in a Virtual Class:

As a participation requirement, you must sign into the chat box three times during the class. This written confirmation is used to certify your participation so that you can receive CE credit from the Department of State.

  • When you first log on to class
  • When you come back from break or lunch
  • When the class ends
  • You must sign in using your first and last name

Continuing Education Pricing

Fees for individual classes are noted on the registration screen and are subject to change.  Typically, continuing education fees are structured as follows:
